Abstract

Semua ibu bersalin mengalami nyeri persalinan sebelum maupun sesudah intervensi. Counterpressure efektif menurunkan intensitas nyeri persalinan.

EFFECTIVELY OF COUNTERPRESSURE REDUCE LABOR PAIN

Some studies show 90% of labor with pain. The culmalation of pain begins to occur in the active phase in the stage of labor. Massage is known to be effective in reducing labor pain, but sometimes it is done improperly so the results are not effective. Massage methods include effleurage, deep back, counterpressure and abdominal lifting. The massage method of effluerage in the abdominal and counter pressure in the sacrum is more effective than other methods. The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of the massage method on reducing first stage labor pain. The research method used the quasy-experimental design with pre-post design in 2 intervention groups. The population was 171 maternity and sample selection with a purposive sampling technique of 46 nullipara mothers. The intensity of labor pain was observed with Verbal Descriptor Scale (VDS) according to Bourbanis. All maternity mothers experience labor pain before and after the intervention. Pain intensity after effleurage massage experienced mild pain (17.4%), moderate (43.5%), severe (34.8%) and very severe pain (4.3%) whereas after counterpressure experienced mild pain (47.8 %), moderate (43.5%) and heavy (8.7%). The Wilcoxon test does not have the effect of effleurage massage on the reduction in labor pain intensity ρ (0.18) and there is a counterpressure effect on the reduction in labor pain intensity in nullipara ρ (0.005). Counterpressure effectively reduces the intensity of labor pain.
